So *
thebottom, the founder of this club has decided to let someone else take it over and try to get it going again!
Amazing right? Just what we all wanted to hear! So before I go ahead and buy a subscription for this account, I want to know that the membership is still active and there is still a crapload of interest in it.
Let me first go over the changes that will be made which will allow everyone in the club more exposure, not just those artists who we all know are simply amazing

Joining
1> Add ~
Pin-ups to your watch list
2> Place a link in your journal which leads directly to us! You can do this by typing : iconpin-ups : (without the spaces) somewhere in your journal. You could also type : devpin-ups : (without the spaces). The former will place our avatar in your journal while the latter will place our linked name in your journal. The reason for this is that, not only you, but the club needs exposure. This will mean that everyone who comes to your page will see the link and might click on it!
3> Send a note to ~
Pin-ups with the subject "JOIN". In this note you must include a link to ONE of the pin-ups that YOU have done within your gallery that you would like posted in our gallery. This piece should be your best pin-up to date. As you improve, you may note us with the subject "NEW GALLERY PICTURE" with the link included to a new picture you would like posted. At that time we will remove your old picture. You may only do this 1. if you show marked improvement (as to be determined by staff) or 2. every 3 months. When you note us, let us know which category you believe you fall under.
Joining requirements - In order to join, in addition to the steps above, you must:
- have at least five COMPLETED pin-ups in your gallery that YOU have done
What constitutes a completed pin-up?
. something fully colored
. something in your main gallery
. something clean and well put together

What will not count?

. a WIP
. anything in your scraps
. anything on lined paper

Photography is included, simply because these terms deal mostly with original artwork does not mean that we don't accept and encourage photography.
Once I purchase a subscription you will know you are accepted by being on our friends list! XD

What is a pin-up?
A pin-up girl or pin-up model is a model whose mass-produced pictures see wide appeal as pop culture. Intended for informal display, pin-ups are a light genre of pornography. Pin-up girls are often glamor models, fashion models, and actresses.
"Pin-up" may also refer to drawings, paintings and other illustrations done in emulation of these photos. The term was first attested to in English in 1941; however the practice is documented back at least to the 1890s. The "pin up" images could be cut out of magazines or newspapers, or be from postcard or chromo-lithographs, and so on. Such photos often appear on calendars, which are meant to be pinned up anyway. Later, posters of "pin-up girls" were mass-produced.
Many "pin ups" were photographs of celebrities who were considered sex symbols. One of the most popular early pin-up girls was Betty Grable. Her poster was ubiquitous in the lockers of GIs during World War II. Others pin-ups were artwork, often depicting idealized versions of what some thought a particularly beautiful or attractive woman should look like. An early example of the latter type was the Gibson girl, drawn by Charles Dana Gibson. The genre also gave rise to several well-known artists specializing in the field, including Alberto Vargas and George Petty, and numerous lesser artists such as Art Frahm.
The term "cheesecake" is synonymous with "pin-up photo". The earliest documented print usage of this sense of "cheesecake" is in 1934, predating "pin-up", although anecdotes say the phrase was in spoken slang some 20 years earlier, originally in the phrase (said of a pretty woman) "better than cheesecake".
These days men can be considered

in ups as well and there are male equivalents of attractive and sexy actors such as Brad Pitt or numerous male models. The counterpart term to "cheesecake" is "beefcake".
In recent years, illustration artists have explored pin-up in more radical ways, namely for one example; Rion Vernon, the creator of the term "pinup toons", who has merged the classic pin-up girl with the cartoon and caricature realms.

So what if you are an old member?
If you are an old member, please NOTE ~
Pin-ups with the subject "SUBMISSION" and include a link to the image that you would like to have on the gallery. We will review your gallery, but we will not require 5 different pin-ups. If you do not have a completed pin-up we will not post a picture for you, but will not remove your membership. You may still participate and once/if you do have a complete pin-up feel free to note us with that information and we will include your picture in the gallery.

Any questions? Please do NOT note us -- we will be overwhelmed as it is. Comment on the main page and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
Devious Comments
Can't seem to make the Journal link work; I tried both devpin-ups and iconpin-ups and neither one produced a workable link.

Anyway, it's just that too many people don't have any clue what a pin-up is, and think that just any picture of a pretty or sexy girl is a "pin-up." I mean, by calling the group "pin-ups" that suggests it should be about pin-ups, and not just anything involving a beautiful woman. So it's not a matter of being inclusive or exclusive, just about being a "pin-ups" group, and not merely a "pretty girls" group. No worries, I trust your judgment. It's that too much definitely-not-a-pinup stuff has been here lately for a group that's named for pin-ups. No doubt it will improve!
